At Ekrixis, we’re entering a busy and exciting launch phase. Over the next few months, you’ll see us beginning to explore some knotty questions, publishing thought-provoking insights, and building early-stage tools to help tackle complex and urgent social challenges. Here’s a quick look at what we are working on and what you can expect to see on our blog, in our publications, and across our channels.
So why should you care? Because the systems shaping your life – healthcare, business, infrastructure, education, the environment, are more complex than ever. Yet the tools used to make decisions about them are often slow, opaque and outdated. We’re exploring new ways to change that, using simulation, AI and systems thinking to help people test ideas, understand consequences, and build better strategies before they’re put into practice.
1. Prototyping the Future of Responsive Governance
We’re laying the groundwork for a set of tools and frameworks designed to support more dynamic, transparent and accountable decision-making in public systems. This starts with a concept paper that explores how AI-assisted simulation, based on system dynamics and digital twins, can help policymakers try out ideas virtually before putting them into action.
From there, we’re building a lightweight MVP to show how this could work in practice. Once it’s up and running, we’ll use it to run a series of policy simulations and share what we learn. These early tests will help us refine the tool. They will also support the growth of our network across academia, policy, business and media.
As we go, we’re prioritising clear documentation and open standards. We want our work to be understandable, adaptable and reusable, especially by people working in complex or high-stakes environments.
Looking ahead, we’ll explore how the same approach can be used for real-time operations, creating feedback loops between data, strategy and action. This will connect with our early research into secure, high-assurance ways of deploying these systems in sensitive settings.
2. Well-Sourced Deep Dives and Bite Size Specialised Content
Alongside the bigger projects, we’ll also be publishing a series of shorter blogs on focused issues. These will be compact explorations of ideas we believe are worth sharing.
Some upcoming topics include:
- How “vibe coding”, a more creative and intuitive approach to programming, can help school-age learners build their own games and interactive tools. This supports real-world problem-solving skills and challenges the idea that AI makes young people passive or dependent.
- How LLMs and AI tools can help disabled people share their healthcare experiences more clearly and confidently, leading to better outcomes and more responsive care.
Each blog will draw on real code and practical experiments, from example classroom coding projects to prototyped tools designed to support people with epilepsy.
3. Horizon Scanning the AI Safety and Assurance Landscape
We’re also keeping an eye on the wider AI discussion, including AI safety, international standards, and how different institutions are responding to the risks and responsibilities of powerful technologies.
This work is about staying grounded. We’re interested in moving beyond the all-too-common false dichotomy of hype vs doomerism that characterises a lot of the current AI discourse. The goal is to focus on what can actually be built, governed and trusted. We’re focused on the practical side of things: how to build systems that are traceable, transparent and controllable. We’ll be testing some of these ideas through small demonstrations and experiments you can follow.
We’re also beginning to grow, forming new relationships, building collaborations, and expanding our team. If you’re working on similar challenges, interested in what we’re doing, or just want to talk, we’d love to hear from you.
More soon.
